This book illustrates the unexpected effects of solar activity on human activity. Although the characteristics of our star have, on the whole, remained pretty well unchanged throughout the history of mankind, lately its mood swings, and considerably varying ejection of matter and radiation have had disruptive effects on our technology-based society.

Progress in Understanding of Polymer Crystallization

2007 | Action 714

The compilation of contributions presented covers all aspects of polymer crystallization, and includes general views, specific observations, and also comparisons with previously proposed concepts.

COST Action C12, entitled “Improvement of Buildings Structural Quality by New Technologies” was launched in May 2000. About 100 scientists from 21 of the 35 COST member countries contributed to this action. The main objectives of COST Action C12 were: to develop, combine and disseminate new technical engineering technologies; to improve the quality of urban buildings; to propose new technical solutions to architects and planners; to reduce the disturbances of the construction ^process in urban areas, and finally to improve the quality of living in the urban habitat.
