COST held an Info Day in Prague on the 16th February to encourage greater participation of researchers from the Czech Republic in European research activities.

Extension of Memorandum of Understanding between COST and Joint Research Centre

COST and the Joint Research Centre (JRC) have signed an extension to their Memorandum of Understanding, which will cover the next five years. The extension strengthens the commitment between the two organisations to work together in order to promote research excellence through networking activities.

Mobile health applications put millions of users’ privacy and security at risk, researchers find

80% of the health apps evaluated in a European study transmitted health-related data to third-party companies, with only half doing so over secure (HTTPS) connections. Most of the apps did not meet legal requirements or standards meant to prevent users’ inappropriate and uncontrolled data usage and disclosure to third-party companies.

COST Governance approves strategy for a stronger position of research networks in FP9

On 12 December 2017, COST’s governing board, the Committee of Senior Officials, chaired by COST President Sierd Cloetingh, in the presence of Director-General Robert-Jan Smits (DG Research and Innovation, European Commission) approved the strategy that will drive COST throughout the end of Horizon 2020 and the next Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP9).
