World Science Forum 2017: COST President says research networks help spread scientific excellence worldwide and reduce brain drain

What cities think about COST Actions

Cities are increasingly involved in COST Actions, yet the collaboration between cities and COST networks usually stays under the radar, with good practices not usually extending beyond the borders of COST Actions. On the 10th October, COST organised an event as part of the European Week of Regions and Cities to explore this issue further.

COST Committee of Senior Officials meet in Tartu, Estonia

The 201st meeting of the COST Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) was held in Tartu, Estonia, on 18-19 October 2017. The meeting was, for the first time, chaired by Prof. Dr Sierd Cloetingh, President of the COST Association.

COST in Montenegro to encourage greater participation in COST Actions

15% of all running COST Actions include involvement from researchers in Montenegro. On the 8th October, representatives from COST met with senior figures from the Science sector to discuss ways to increase this number. COST also held an Info Day on the 9th October to encourage and inform researchers on how to become involved with COST.

Graphene Week 2017

COST were in Greece for the annual Graphene Week conference, which attracted over 550 participants, inlcuding many young researchers who were interested in joining COST Actions.

COST in Sofia to discuss International knowledge city networks

At the end of September, COST attended the Sofia - Knowledge City Cluster conference in Bulgaria to discuss the strategies and benefits of international knowledge city networks.

COST in Bulgaria for inspiring Info Day

COST held an Info Day at the University of Sofia, Bulgaria on the 27th September, to promote the benefits of participating in COST Actions, which enable collaborative and dynamic scientific research across European countries. Over 100 participants from the Bulgarian academic sector attended the event, including many younger researchers, who are traditionally under-represented within scientific research.

COST holds successful Info Day in Lodz, Poland

Over 100 participants from across Poland, including young researchers, academics and representatives from small and medium enterprises, have attended an Info Day organised by COST in the city of Lodz on the 26th September 2017.

The second COST Academy: Leadership Workshop to empower young and under-represented researchers to strive for leadership roles, was held on the 22nd September, at the COST Association office in Brussels, Belgium.
