Research network helps set up online course on urban agriculture entrepreneurship

Researchers involved in COST-funded Urban Agriculture Europe (UAE) network have helped develop a course meant to equip university students, SMEs, public authorities and NGOs with the right know-how to build on business opportunities and tap into the economic potential of agriculture innovation in urban areas.

The COST Association will welcome its new Director, Dr Ronald de Bruin on 1 June 2016. He will succeed Dr Monica Dietl, Director since April 2011.

Montenegro hosts COST General Assembly April meeting

On 13-14 April 2016, the Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) gathered in Bečići, Montenegro, for its 196th meeting. Opened by the Minister of Science, Prof. Sanja Vlahović, it was the first CSO meeting hosted in Montenegro.

The 2012 Nobel Prize winner in chemistry, Professor Brian Kobilka, gave a special opening lecture at the GLISTEN 2016 Spring Meeting in Erlangen, Germany.

26 new Actions to start in spring 2016

The Committee of Senior officials approved 26 new Actions in February 2016. They were selected out of 240 eligible proposals gathered on the second 2015 collection date.

COST Action exploring links between climate change and migration at COP21

Climate change is the "defining challenge of our age", according to UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon. It threatens people’s lives and drives them away from their homes in search of a better and safer life elsewhere. An innovative COST Action took up the challenge and decided to tackle the emerging phenomenon of ‘climate migration’. Key findings of a fruitful four-year international collaboration will be presented this week at the 2015 UNFCCC COP21, in Paris.
