A new interactive toolbox is helping urban planners, practitioners, environmental organisations and researchers across Europe work together to better understand and use the ground beneath our cities.

Creating a European observatory on femicide

To mark the international women’s day, COST Action “Femicide across Europe” stresses the importance of continuous efforts to counter the phenomenon killing thousands of women every year, worldwide. Network members are now looking for partners and stakeholders to set up a European observatory, and plan to discuss the next steps at the network’s final conference in Malta.

Major scientific publishers team up with a COST Action to share data and improve peer review

Together with researchers in COST Action New Frontiers of Peer Review - PEERE, Elsevier, Springer Nature and Wiley have agreed on a protocol that enables peer review data sharing in a journal sample. This collaboration is meant to improve the quality, efficiency and sustainability of scholarly peer review.

COST Actions turn the spotlight on Portugal

Part of the Portuguese research community participating in COST networks met the EU Commissioner for Science, Research and Innovation, Mr Carlos Moedas, in Lisbon on Monday, 20 February. The lunch event stressed the added value that COST networks bring to the European R&D landscape.

The 8th European Innovation Summit – Future now!

The 8th European innovation summit ‘Future now!’ was marked by an unprecedented sense of urgency requiring new innovation approaches that provide short-term, demonstrable impact and tangible benefits for EU citizens. All participants agreed on the need to improve communication between citizens and science, in order to better connect the two.
