COST was celebrating the International Year of Chemistry with its fourth edition of the COST-ESF High-level Research Conference series on Natural Product that will take place in September 2011 in Italy.
Natural products have provided, and continue to provide, the most challenging target structures for the advancement of the science of synthesis. Current efforts are devoted to provide efficient processes that allow the selective synthesis of natural products and their analogs for the application in biological chemistry and as potential drug candidates. Innovation at the interface between chemistry and medicine relies on selective molecules.
The conference was held in an exquisite location allowing complete concentration on science without distractions from outside and continued the tradition of presenting world leading science in its subject area. Keynote lectures from eminent scientist were interspersed with invited talks and shorter presentations as well as poster sessions to foster discussion and exchange of ideas among scientists at all levels in their professional development. Special financial support was directed at selected Early Stage Researchers.
