On 5 September 2019, the COST Association closed the collection of proposals receiving a total of 409 since the last collection date (end of November 2018). This signifies a 15% increase compared to the previous collection date.
For the first time in the COST tracking system, women applications as main proposers reached 40%. Gender balance is one of the main elements in COST’s inclusiveness policy.
From this collection, almost 50% of the proposals include two or more scientific fields. The distribution per scientific field is shown on the chart below.
The COST countries that have applied the most as main proposers for COST Actions are Italy and Spain as indicated on the last graph.
The next steps in the evaluation of these proposals are:
- Evaluation by independent experts (mid-October to mid-December 2019).
- Proposals review – ad hoc review panels. From mid-December to end of January 2020.
- Selection by the COST Scientific Committee (meeting 4-5 March).
- Approval by the COST Committee of Senior Officials, 24 March 2020.
The next collection date is foreseen on 29 April 2020.
