Throughout Europe one of the greatest challenges to the growth and survival of young tree seedlings is competition from weed vegetation. COST Action E47 was formed to help forest managers in addressing this challenge. The main objective was to help managers reduce their dependence on the use of herbicides in Europe’s forests by facilitating and co-ordinating the development of sustainable, environmentally sound, socially acceptable and economically viable alternatives.

The objective of COST 273 was to increase the knowledge on radio aspects of mobile and wireless broadband multimedia networks, by exploring and developing new methods, models, techniques, strategies and tools towards the implementation of 4th generation mobile and wireless communication systems. This book presents the results of four years of collaborative work by more than 350 researchers from 29 countries and 137 institutions (universities, operators, manufacturers, regulators, independent laboratories and others) in the area of mobile radio.
