Lead-Free Solders: Handbook of Properties of SAC Solders and Joints

One of the main objectives of COST Action 531 was to increase the basic knowledge on possible alloy systems that can be used as lead-free solder materials and to provide a scientific basis for a decision which of these materials to use for different soldering purposes in order to replace the currently used lead-containing solders in the future.
For three years, the Action cooperated with ELFNET (European Lead-free Soldering Network), collecting available data on properties of lead-free solder alloys and their corresponding joints.
The main result of this cooperation was the creation of a database on physical and mechanical properties of lead-free solder alloys which is the basis of the present handbook. It concentrates exclusively on the SAC alloy family which was chosen because of its outstanding technological interest.

The seventh ERCOFTAC Workshop on “Direct and Large-Eddy Simulation” (DLES-7) was held at the University of Trieste from September 8-10, 2008. Following the tradition of previous workshops in the DLES-series this edition reflects the state of the art of numerical simulation of traditional and turbulent flows and provided an active forum for discussion of recent developments in simulation techniques and understanding of flow physics. At a fundamental level this workshop addressed numerous theoretical and physical aspects of transitional and turbulent flows. At an applied level it contributes to the solution of problems related to energy production, transportation and the environment. This book is of interest to scientists and engineers both at an early level in their career as well as at more senior levels.

Social Services Disrupted - Changes, Challenges and Policy Implications for Europe in Times of Austerity
This book revives the discussion on public social services and their redesign, with a focus on services relating to care and the social inclusion of vulnerable groups, providing rich information on the changes that occurred in the organisation and supply of public social services over the last thirty years in different European places and service fields. Despite the persisting variety in social service models, three shared trends emerge: public sector disengagement, ‘vertical re-scaling’ of authority and ‘horizontal re-mix’ in the supply system. The consequences of such changes are evaluated from different perspectives – governance, social and territorial cohesion, labour market, gender – and are eventually deemed ‘disruptive’ in both economic and social terms. The policy implications of the restructuring are also explored.
