COST Academy – Workshop on Gender equality in research and innovation

The COST Academy will organise a training on Gender equality in research and innovation in Brussels on 24 October 2024, 09:00–16:30 CET.  The format of the training will be structured around interventions from gender equality experts.

In 2024 we still observe an increasingly important role for gender equality priorities in research and innovation. Therefore, COST is keen to offer COST Actions the opportunity to benefit from a targeted training session on how to integrate a gender dimension in R&I teams. The format of the workshop will be structured around interventions from gender equality experts. COST is pleased to announce that the Leader and Co-leader of Working Group 4-5 from the Action CA19122 European Network for Gender Balance in Informatics (EUGAIN) will deliver some of the key workshop sessions. These sessions will offer evidence-based techniques and strategies about how to handle gender inequality and how to integrate a gender dimension into COST Actions. Based on research results (mainly within the frames of CA19122 European Network for Gender Balance in Informatics), the EUGAIN experts will moderate a peer-to-peer learning session, while not only sharing their experiences and suggestions, but participants will be highly encouraged to share their thoughts and questions.

In addition, the training will include interventions by colleagues from the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Gender Sector in DG Research & Innovation, as well as the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT). Participants will also hear from two COST Action participants who have successfully implemented gender equality activities in their Action. During the interactive part, participants will be invited to discuss, in break-out groups, how to draft a Gender Equality Plan for their Action.
