The importance of accurate diagnosis and classification of cholangiocarcinoma

Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) heterogeneity has limited the discovery of biomarkers and novel therapeutic options, hampering the development of tools for early diagnosis and effective treatment. However, while CCA constitutes a major challenge for researchers, clinicians, national health systems, and society, coordinated multidisciplinary pan-European studies are lacking. As such, the EURO-CHOLANGIO-NET (European Cholangiocarcinoma Network) aims to set up a pan-European-wide interdisciplinary co-operative network of stakeholders, including scientists, clinicians, regulatory authorities, small/medium enterprises, and industry partners, to address the CCA problem.

EURO-CHOLANGIO-NET are organising a conference on the diagnosis and classification of cholangiocarcinoma to raise awareness among healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers and other stakeholders about the importance of accurate classification and codification of cholangiocarcinoma.

The network is seeking young researchers and innovators (up to 40 years old and affiliated to a research institute) to help actively implement the Action and expand the network over the remaining duration of their funding period. For this reason, they invite interested young researchers and innovators to submit either:

  1. An abstract for presentation at the poster blast session on a theme relevant to the diagnosis, classification, or management of cholangiocarcinoma;
  2. A collaborative study proposal that addresses how to achieve deliverables, plan multidisciplinary projects involving working groups, encourage capacity-building objectives for involving more women and young investigators, and expand the network, to be presented during a relevant working group session.

Please refer to their website, eurocholangionet.eu, for more information about theAction.

Applications can be submitted until 15 April through the following link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe4f3Ghf-yGqcqFGPXibfpM-SwXUNM7rhFnFiMXF-dGkI9HMQ/viewform?usp=sf_link
