The LepEU Workshop 2026 is a joint training and hackathon event focused on the analysis of Lepidoptera population genomic data (butterflies and moths). The program is designed to support participants with different levels of experience: beginners will have the opportunity to learn how to run and interpret standard bioinformatics pipelines, while more experienced participants will evaluate alternative approaches and quantify how analytical choices influence results.
The workshop is informed by recent benchmarking and reproducibility initiatives in genomics and bioinformatics, which show that different analytical decisions can lead to different outcomes even when using the same data. Participants will work in independent groups on shared datasets, enabling structured comparison of pipelines and contributing to the development of reproducible best-practice recommendations for Lepidoptera genomics.
Event dates: 26–29 May 2026
Location: Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, Portugal
