70 new COST Actions approved

On 27 May 2022, COST’s governing board, the Committee of Senior Officials (CSO), confirmed the funding of 70 new COST Actions, that will officially start in Autumn 2022.

The 70 new COST Actions in figures:

16% of main proposers are early-career investigator

44% of main proposers are women

71% of the proposals feature participants from industry/SMEs

19% of main proposers come from an Inclusiveness Target Country (ITC)

77% of the future networks have attracted participants from all over the world

As an indicator of multidisciplinarity of the 70 new COST Actions, 47% of all new Actions cover at least two OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) fields of science and technology, while 11% cover at least three fields.

Natural sciences leads the way as the most represented field of science (represented in 50% of the new approved Actions), followed by Medical and Health Sciences (34%), Social Sciences (27%), Engineering and Technology (24%), Agricultural Science (13%), and Humanities (11%).

The success rate for applications in this Open Call was 17.4%.

On June 23 the new COST Actions, including all Memorandum’s of Understanding, will be available on the COST website and the first Management Committee meetings will start between September and October 2022.
