COST partnered with the French National Research Agency in light of the 2015 edition of “Rencontres Recherche et Création”.

“Rencontres Recherche et Création”, also named “The Workshop of thought”, took place within the Festival d’Avignon , an annual arts event held every summer in July, since 1947. The session gathered artists from the Festival to dialogue along with researchers in human, social and cognitive sciences.

COST Association Director, Dr Monica Dietl, presented the COST Framework and COST Action representatives introduced new interdisciplinary topics bearing relevance to the theme of creation processes. As part of the "Verbal, non verbal" session, COST was represented by:

  • Professor Carlo Cecchetto , Vice Chair of COST Action IS1006 , who focused his presentation on the importance of creating reference grammars of individual sign languages ( Unravelling the grammars of European sign languages: pathways to full citizenship of deaf signers and to the protection of their linguistic heritage ).
  • Professor Arnaud Destrebecqz , who presented the main outcomes of COST Action BM0605 that successfully contributed to the understanding of the mechanisms associated with consciousness ( Consciousness: A Transdisciplinary, Integrated Approach ).
