COST country focus: Norway
Having joined COST in 1971, Norway has been a member of COST for its full forty year history. The national COST Office is hosted by the Research Council of Norway.
Through some of the Actions which Norway chairs, it has improved knowledge of the welfare of fish in European aquaculture, defined current knowledge gaps and identify possible measures to improve the multidisciplinary research on urban infrastructure vulnerability and the handling of crisis situations, and also contributed to a better understanding of the effects of trade in small arms is relevant to European policy formation and debates on a common foreign and security policy.
Through some of the Actions within which Norway has been involved, it has enhanced children's welfare in an aging society, contributed to the creation of open scholarly communities on the web and participated in comparative research into current trends in public sector organisation.
