Today’s leaders in transdisciplinary science tell their COST stories at ESOF 2014
COST will be attending the 2014 edition of the Euroscience Open Forum in Copenhagen, from 21 to 26 June.
As a leading framework supporting transdisciplinary research networks in Europe, COST will take the opportunity to showcase three outstanding trans-domain Actions:
- Frontiers of Peer Review (PEER): a network aiming to improve the efficiency, transparency and accountability of scientific peer review through trans-disciplinary collaboration;
- European Information Systems for Alien Species: a network of experts aiming to improve the prevention and control of alien species harming biodiversity in the EU
- Time In MEntaL activitY: theoretical, behavioral, bioimaging and clinical perspectives (TIMELY) – a network establishing the first European community on time perception and its underlying consequences in various disciplines (neuroscience, computer science, linguistics etc.)
The three Action Chairs will meet the audience in the exhibition area for a Q&A session following their short talks on Monday, 23 June, from 16:30 to 17:00. COST welcomes all interested participants to engage in discussions both during the session and at the COST stand.
The Forum is an excellent opportunity for COST to attract European researchers and present its new structure and strategy in the context of the new EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. This is also a chance for COST to highlight the turning point it is facing, as the COST Member Countries are taking over the responsibility for all COST activities through the COST Association and through a partnership with the European Commission over the next seven years and beyond, contributing to the Horizon 2020 objectives.
COST is thus ready to take on its role of key contributor to theHorizon 2020 strategic objectives: spreading excellence by encouraging bottom-up, researcher-driven networks, and widening participation by fully developing its “inclusiveness” policy enabling researchers’ access to leading knowledge hubs across Europe.
