Communicating Science: an example from the field... literally!

In the latest YouTube video of COST Action CM0903, Professor Martyn Poliakoff explains the scientific challenges the Action addresses.

COST Action CM0903 UBIOCHEM is a new COST Action which straddles the boundaries of chemistry and engineering. The Action aims to create a synergistic approach to the utilisation of biomass for the sustainable production of fuels and chemicals through cooperation between scientists from member states and different areas/disciplines, thus increasing competitiveness.

The School of chemistry at the University of Nottingham has had a longstanding involvement in COST Actions and is part of the UBIOCHEM management team. Nottingham has a very fruitful collaboration with video journalist Brady Haran and is becoming well known across the world for their scientific videos on YouTube, particularly those on chemistry.

With sponsorship from COST, Poliakoff, Haran and some of their colleagues will be discussing their approach of communicating science at the ESOF2010 on Tuesday 6 July 2010 at 18:00 at Circolo dei Lettori (via Bogino 9, Torino, Italy).
