COST country focus: Turkey
Turkey is also one of the original COST Countries, joining at the start in 1971. The national COST Office is hosted by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey.

To date, Turkey has participated in 227 COST Actions and is Action Chair for two of these.
Through the Actions which it chairs, Turkey has cooperated in increasing the capacity of communication systems within a specified transmission bandwidth with minimum available transmitter power, and enhancing existing and develop new modelling and simulation tools for research in emerging multi-service telecommunications networks.
Through the COST Actions in which Turkey has been involved, the country has contributed to strengthening the position of Europe in the areas of white biotechnology and lignocellulose-based biorefineries, providing European SME's with innovative materials and defining European standards for cancer therapies.
We can only present you here with a snapshot of all the Actions which Turkey is involved in. Comprehensive information on all the COST Actions which Turkey both chairs and participates in can be found on the new COST country page.
This country focus fits in a summer series in which we visit each COST country in alphabetical order to highlight its achievements in the COST Programme.
