COST country focus: Romania
Romania has been a member of COST since 1991. The national COST Office is hosted by the National Office for Scientific Research.

To date, Romania has been involved in 324 COST Actions, and chairs one Action in the MPNS Domain.
The main objective of the Action which Romania chairs is to organise a multidisciplinary European scientific network of groups experienced in synthesis, advanced characterization and modeling of single-and multi-phase ferroic and multiferroic nanosystems.
Furthermore, through the COST Actions in which it has been involved, Romania has contributed to exploring the management of water in European forests, establishing a European phenological data platform for climatological applications, a network exploring social, moral and material relocations of Europe's eastern peripheries, as well as advancing the use of natural products as tools for chemical biology.
It is not possible here to highlight every area within which Romania has advanced research throughout all COST Domains, within each Action.
More information on all the COST Actions which Romania both chairs and participates in can be found on the new COST country page.
This country focus fits in a summer series in which we visit each COST country in alphabetical order to highlight its achievements in the COST Programme.
