COST elects new CSO President
With the unanimous election of Dr Angeles Rodríguez Peña as President of the COST CSO on 26 May 2010 in Riga, COST elected its first female President.
"I was honoured that Spain presented me as a candidate for the role of COST President," explains President-elect Dr Rodríguez Peña. "I am passionate about COST because it creates a strong, direct and also very human connection between the end users and their policy-makers while simultaneously offering an open global platform to scientists involved in COST, particularly the early-stage researchers which we hold very dear."
"I am proud to hand over the presidency to Dr Rodríguez Peña," adds Professor Fedi, President of the COST CSO until 21 June 2010. "Not only because she will give COST the strong leadership and visibility it deserves, but also because I believe that the election of the first lady President sends an important signal to the research community."
"I will elaborate my vision for COST afer the COST Ministerial Conference of 15 June 2010," responds President-elect Dr Rodríguez Peña with a twinkle in the eye. "However, I can already reveal that - as a side effect - I will indeed put a 21st century mentality in our strategies."
