COST country focus: Poland
Poland has been a member of COST since 1991. The national COST Office in Poland is hosted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Over the past 20 years Poland has been involved in over 500 COST Actions and has been particularly active in the FA, MPNS and ICT Domains.

Through this involvement, Poland has contributed to fighting chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, measuring the impact of climate change on European agriculture and detecting bacterial environments that are anti-biotic resistant.
Furthermore, Poland's participation has added to the understanding of possible health impacts of emerging technologies, which may result in exposure to electromagnetic fields and has helped develop an integrated approach for tackling the challenges associated with heterogeneous and hierarchical systems for High Performance Computing.
Poland's contribution to European research through COST cannot be summed up in merely a few paragraphs and so the new COST Country pages try to emphasise each country's participation more fully. More information on all the COST Actions which Poland both chairs and participates in can be found on the new COST country page.
This country focus fits in a summer series in which we visit each COST country in alphabetical order to highlight its achievements in the COST Programme.
