2nd International Symposium on the Genomics of Plant Genetic Resources
Registration is open for the second edition of this symposium gathering worldwide experts including 2009 World Food Prize Laureate Prof. Gebisa Ejeta.
2010 has been declared as the International Year of Biodiversity by the United Nations. As part of the activities planned for the year, Bioversity International, the The Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK) and the University of Bologna will organise the 2nd International Symposium on the Genomics of Plant Genetic Resources to be held in Bologna, Italy from 24 to 27 April 2010.
COST is actively involved by supporting several Actions in the area of advanced genomic tools applied to plant genetics. COST Action FA 0604 in particular will support senior and young scientists who wish to attend this high-level meeting, contributing to the further growth and expansion of this important area of research.
This second edition of the symposium will focus on harnessing plant biodiversity for food security and nutritional quality. There will be some 40 acclaimed scientists taking part in this event including 2009 World Food Prize Laureate Prof. Gebisa Ejeta.
A round table discussion will address the key topic of educating a new generation of plant breeders. The abstract deadline has been set for 15 February 2010. A number of abstracts will be chosen for oral presentations. The peer-reviewed journal Plant Genetic Resources will publish a special issue collecting short manuscripts of the work presented during the congress (oral and poster presentations).
Registration is now open and details are available on the congress website.
