FA Domain Plans Workshop on Animal Nutrition and Health
A workshop on animal nutrition and health has been included in next year’s VIV2010 event in the Netherlands
On 20 and 21 April 2010, COST is organising a workshop on animal nutrition and health. This event is set to take place alongside VIV2010 in The Netherlands. Researchers, scientists and stakeholders related to R&D are the target for this international event for decision makers in the Feed-to-Meat industry.
Bringing scientific expertise close to industry and promote bilateral networking, the workshop will include talks on pig development and health, aquaculture and animal nutrition. COST will use its networking expertise to identify common ground between science and industry, stirring discussion, promoting networking and creating bilateral science-industry collaborations.
There are many COST Action linked to the Food and Agriculture Domain that illustrate research in this area. Members of the COST PigNet recently announced a scientific breakthrough that will benefit the pork industry. It will allow scientists to pinpoint genes associated with a variety of production and health traits.
On a similar topic, COST Action FA0902 sets out to understand and combat Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) through genetics and genomic tools. Participants will develop current knowledge on epidemiology and immunopathology of PRRS to identify ways to combat it.
More information is available in the events calendar.
