COST country focus: Luxembourg
Luxembourg has been a member of COST since 1971. The national COST Office in Luxembourg is hosted by the National Research Fund.
To date, Luxembourg has been involved in at least 135 COST Actions and has been Action Chair in at least 61 additional Actions. Most involved in the ESSEM, Luxembourg has contributed to the optimal management of wastewater systems; the improvement of the use of local-scale emergency prediction and response for airborne hazards in built environments as well as establishing and networking local points for the 3-D monitoring of Active Tectonic Structure.
Other highlights of Luxembourg's involvement in COST Actions are the contributions made to:
- the creation of a European database for integrated telecommunication, navigation and earth observation systems;
- urban flood management in Europe;
- establishing systemic risks related to the subprime financial crisis;
- monitoring gas exchange between biosphere and atmosphere.
