COST country focus: Lithuania
After receiving observer status in 1998, Lithuania become a full member of COST in 1999. The national COST Office in Lithuania is hosted by the Research Council of Lithuania.

Lithuania participates in 214 COST Actions and is active in every COST Domain. Latvia chairs one COST Action in the ICT Domain whose main objective is to develop a comprehensive techno-economic regulatory framework of radio spectrum access rules for CR/SDR-based wireless applications.
Through the COST Actions within which Lithuania is involved, Lithuania has contributed to setting standards for weather classifications in European regions, measuring the impact of climate change on European agriculture, and controlling metals in drinking water throughout Europe, as well as setting European standards for pedestrian safety in the public space, to name but a few.
An overview of the COST Actions which Lithuania both Chairs and participates in on the new COST country page.
This country focus fits in a summer series in which we visit each COST country in alphabetical order to highlight its achievements in the COST Programme.
