COST country focus: Ireland
Ireland has been a member of COST since joining in 1971. The national COST Office is hosted by Enterprise Ireland.

To date, Ireland has been involved in around 490 COST Actions, and has chaired 10 of them.
As part of these Actions, Ireland has contributed to understanding obstructive sleep apnea, identifying mechanisms of carbon storage in European grasslands and using physics to facilitate a new understanding of systems traditionally the province of other disciplines (e.g. competition and conflicts).
Moreover, Ireland has participated in many COST Actions, including the European sea level observing system (ESS), the measuring and monitoring of farm animal welfare and researching future telecommunications and tele-informatics facilities for disabled persons.
An overview of the COST Actions which Ireland both Chairs and participates in on the new COST country page.
This country focus fits in a summer series in which we visit each COST country in alphabetical order to highlight its achievements in the COST Programme.
