Having participated in at least 600 Actions over the past forty years, Finland chairs 27 Actions and are particularly active in the FPS Domain - chairing ten Actions. These COST Actions have meant that Finland has contributed to advances in the drying of wood, the analysis of the contribution of forests and forestry to mitigate greenhouse effects and the economic integration of urban consumers' demand and rural forestry production.

Finland has also contributed to exploring black holes and their impact on the evolution of the universe, setting European standards for pedestrian safety in the public space and the early establishment of the GSM standard in the 1980s.

More information on all the COST Actions which Finland both chairs and participates in can be found on the new COST country page.

This country focus fits in a summer series in which we visit each COST country in alphabetical order to highlight its achievements in the COST Programme.
