Participating in almost 120 COST Actions, Estonia is particularly active in the ISCH Domain, contributing to the programme for the study of European rural societies, the increase in understanding of the material preconditions and the scholarly competence for analyzing variations in the effectiveness of electoral democracy in Europe across countries and over time as well as improving current understandings of the social construction of threats and thereby increase the usefulness of such understandings for policy formulation.

The Report on the Implementation of the 2009 Objectives of the Estonian Research and Development and Innovation Strategy 2007-2013 "Knowledge-based Estonia", stated on page 22 that "COST has been the most efficient form of international cooperation for Estonian
researchers." The report listed the COST benefits for Estonian researchers and praised the possibility that COST provides to amplify the impact of national funding.

More information on all the COST Actions which Estonia both chairs and participates in can be found on the new COST country page.

This country focus fits in a summer series in which we visit each COST country in alphabetical order to highlight its achievements in the COST Programme.
