COST country focus: Denmark
Denmark has been a COST country since 1971 and the national COST Office for Denmark is hosted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Denmark is particularly active in the ESSEM Domain, participating in 75 Actions and chairing four of these. Through these particular COST Actions, Denmark is contributing to the optimal management of wastewater systems, studying the xenobiotics in the urban water cycle, creating a European framework for online integrated air quality and meteorology modeling and developing common protocols and methods within a larger network to reconstruct abrupt and extreme climate change across the full range of European environments (ice, marine and terrestrial) within the period 60 000 to 8 000 years ago.
Further Actions which Denmark is involved in ensure the country's contribution to identifying Europe's scope for peacekeeping operations, setting European standards for pedestrian safety in the public space as well as strengthening the protection of human rights worldwide.
More information on all the COST Actions which Denmark both chairs and participates in can be found on the new COST country page.
This country focus fits in a summer series in which we visit each COST country in alphabetical order to highlight its achievements in the COST Programme.
