COST country focus: Belgium
Joining COST in 1971, Belgium has been a member of COST for its full forty year history. The national COST Office is hosted by the Federal Science Policy Office in Brussels.

Having been a part of over 720 COST Actions, Belgium has made significant contributions to European science and research. In particular, bringing maternal and infant care up to the best standard across the EU, assessing berate cancer risk associated with genetic variants as well as contributing to restorative justice developments in Europe.
As well as these, through its participation in COST Actions, Belgium has contributed to identifying Europe's scope for peacekeeping operations, managing greenhouse gas emissions from European soils and preventing honeybee extinction in Europe.
The huge variety of themes reflects Belgium's participation across all COST Domains.
More information on all the COST Actions which Belgium both Chairs and participates in can be found on the new COST country page.
This country focus fits in a summer series in which we visit each COST country in alphabetical order to highlight its achievements in the COST Programme.
