Tracking technologies such as GPS, mobile phone tracking, video and RFID monitoring are rapidly becoming part of daily life. Technological progress offers huge possibilities for studying human activity patterns in time and space in new ways.
The aim of this workshop/seminar was to exchange knowledge on processing, visualisation and interpretation of GPS-tracking data. Central issue of the workshop is the preparation of the data for application in Urban Design: from raw spatio-temporal data to accessible and valuable information.
Topics:
- Processing of GPS-tracking data (cleaning, organising, annotating, classifying: from raw data to accessible spatio-temporal data)
- Visualisation and Interpretation of spatio-temporal data (dynamic or static visualisation of GPS data, visual analytics, interpretation and conclusions)
- Data mining of spatio-temporal data (correlation, spatial statistics)
- Application in Urban Design (from interpretation to interventions)
The workshop was co-funded by COST Action IC0903 'Knowledge Discovery from Moving Objects' (MOVE).
