COST Action MARSAFENET organised a one-day international conference in collaboration with the Institute for the Law of the Sea and International Marine Environmental Law (ISRIM) and the International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI).

Attendees looked at different approaches to maritime security regarding offshore activities, with a focus on security aspects of offshore wind energy and lessons to learn from other offshore activities. The event gathered legal experts from United Nations agencies such as the  International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea  (ITLOS), the   World Maritime University , the  International Maritime Organization   (IMO), the  International Maritime Law Institute  and from several universities. 

COST Action MARSAFENET  is a network of experts looking at ways of increasing maritime security and safety in terms of shipping and marine environmental protection, new economic activities at sea, maritime international security, border surveillance and protecting fragile and semi-enclosed seas.
