4th International Euro-Mediterranean Conference (EuroMed 2012)

This year, EuroMed2012 focused on cultural heritage. The government of the Republic of Cyprus included the EU Cultural Heritage policy and the Europe 2020/Innovation Union Initiative as important thematic priorities in the work programme of the presidency of the Council of the European Union. EuroMed2012 agenda contributed to the programme of the Cypriot Presidency of the EU in the area of Cultural Heritage.

COST organised a session on  'Networking with the policy makers and other professionals' with the involvement of the following COST Actions and initiatives:

Moreover, the newly approved  COST Action TD1201 on ‘Colour and Space in Cultural Heritage’ (COSCH)  held its kick-off meeting within the framework of EuroMed 2012.

EuroMed2012 enhanced and strengthened international and regional cooperation and promote awareness and tools for future innovative research, development and applications to protect, preserve and document the European and global Cultural Heritage.

This event gathered policy-makers from different EU countries and institutions (European Commission, European Parliament, Council of Europe, UNESCO, ICOMOS, CIPA, ISPRS, ICCROM), experts as well as participants from several countries and disciplines – all this around scientific areas such as architecture, civil engineering and ICT.

The agenda of this unique conference included hundreds of excellent oral and poster presentations, as well as workshops and demonstrations from academia and industry, reflecting the wide scope of research in the area of cultural heritage. This event focused on interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research on tangible and intangible Cultural Heritage, the use of cutting edge technologies for the protection, preservation, conservation, massive digitalisation and visualisation of cultural heritage content (archeological sites, artifacts, monuments, libraries, archives, museums, etc.)
