The November COST Seminar featured Christopher John Hull, Secretary General of the European Association of Research and Technology Organisations (EARTO), with a presentation on EARTO and its recent activities focussing on innovation.
Mr Hull also gave an insight into the independent study on the role and impact of European Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs), released by EARTO at the end of October 2010 as the first of its kind at European level.
Christopher John Hull has specialised in European innovation, technology transfer and R&D policies during the past 20 years. He has worked, inter alia, as an expert for the European Commission and served as Secretary General of three European trade associations in these areas: TII, FEICRO, and now EARTO. In an earlier career (1974-1986) he worked on the design and evaluation of public programmes in the fields of regional economic development, employment, and small firms. He has recently been Chairman of DG Research’s Expert Advisory Group on SMEs and a member of Commissioner Potočnik’s Sounding Board for Smaller Framework Programme Actors.
