COST offered its Actions’ Chairs, Vice-Chairs and members with responsibility for communications unique training opportunities to maximise their Action communication potential.

As part of the COST Outreach Strategy and in collaboration with Ecsite, the European Network of Science Centres and Museums, COST invited Action Chairs, Vice-Chairs and members with responsibility for communications to the fifth edition of its advanced science communication training on 17 and 18 November 2011.

This course was hosted by the wonderful Museum of Natural History in London, UK.

COST aims to maximise the outcome of its Actions ’ results and their outreach potential. In order to develop stronger networks, while also promoting their visibility, COST Action Chairs and Vice-Chairs were given the opportunity to build and manage an appropriate communication strategy for their collaborative research. The training course provided the tools to effectively communicate research results to the general public, as well as colleagues in the scientific community, funding bodies and decision-makers.

This hands-on course consisted of two days of practical and group exercises, and gathered a selected group of participants eager to share similar communication challenges and to expand their research communication potential. Thanks to its unique partnership with Ecsite, COST offered the best combination of training and experience in scientific communication.
