COST Action BM0602 held its final Event at the University of Eastern Finland in Kuopio in one of the most beautiful lake district of Finland.
The main objective of the Action is to advance our knowledge on the pathogenesis and prevention of obesity and the specific role of adipose tissue in the development of the metabolic syndrome. This approach is driven by the hypothesis that adipose tissue is critically involved in transducing signals which mediate insulin resistance, vascular complications, beta cell dysfunction and the manifestation of type 2 diabetes.
During this Final Scientific Meeting the COST National Coordinator for Finland, Dr Raimo Pulkkinen, held a speech on the 40th anniversary of COST and the future perspectives.
