Natural Resources Management

COST Foresight 2030 - 4 Parallel Workshops on Energy, Food Security, Life Enhancement and Natural Resources Management

The Workshop on Natural Resources Management focused on the sustainable management of continental ecosystems and biodiversity (including forests), marine and coastal systems (including fisheries), and on fresh water.

It gathered some 20 experts representing top Universities and leading scientific institutions worldwide and was organised in a very interactive manner, favouring groundbreaking and critical thinking concerning long-term developments and the impacts of future disruptive innovations.

Workshop Objectives

  • To examining the major challenges in managing natural resources for a sustainable development.
  • To review which key ICT/CCST technologies available by year 2030 will enable these challenges to be met successfully.
  • To review the need of a global system of environmental governance.
  • To evaluate the need of new concepts such as payments for environmental services, or ecological footprint taxes.
