COST at the 6th European Innovation Summit

COST was actively involved in this year's European Innovation Summit, organising a policy breakfast and participating in two sessions. The Summit underlined the importance of a "mandate for innovation in Europe", looking at the new institutional cycle of the European Union.

Hosted by  Victor Negrescu MEP , the breakfast debated the top-down way of setting research priorities at European level in relation to bottom-up initiatives, open to all research topics.

Hosted by  Brando Benifei MEP  and Victor Negrescu MEP, the session introduced young researchers, scientists and entrepreneurs sharing their own stories on innovation, start-ups and risk perception in Europe - all key factors in boosting economic growth. 

Targeted Network  Sci-GENERATION  Chair, Professor Thomas Schäfer, was part of the panel.

Prof. Jerzy Buzek  (ITRE President and former President of the European Parliament) hosted this session, touching on Europe's future first class transport, reflecting the European Commission’s strategic vision of a single European transport area. Dr Monica Dietl, Director of the COST Association, was also part of the panel.
