FA COST Action 926
Impact of the new technologies on the health benefits and safety of bioactive plant compounds

The human diet contains hundreds of compounds, which are not considered as nutrients, but appear to play a role in the maintenance of health. There has been an active search to identify such substances, particularly from fruit and vegetables.
The main objective of the Action was to ensure that maximum benefit was gained in Europe from the application of new technologies in cellular and molecular biology in the study of bioactive components in fruits and vegetables in relation to disease prevention.
